How a non-competitive walking app helps you walk more
As we hope everyone knows, it’s National Walking Month. Being a walking-for-charity app, we think every month’s walking month, so we always enjoy persuading people to walk more.
According to Sport England research, walking is still the UK’s most popular form of exercise. But while nearly 23million people walk at least once a month, there’s concern about an overall decrease in activity. In short, most other fitness activities appear to be lower than pre-pandemic levels.
This means that some people are trying to regain lost fitness habits, while others may be struggling to start one.
And creating that regular exercise routine can be so hard. Particularly if you find gyms or competitive fitness apps overwhelming. Which is where trundl’s non-competitive walking app comes in.
Helping others is a great motivation to build a walking habit
According to CAF Online, over 4.4 million people in the UK get actively involved in fundraising. Undoubtedly, these amazing people have learned that even when we’re not feeling our best, putting kindness back in the world makes things feel better. But not everyone can find the time or sponsorship to do more than one or two fundraisers a year. And it’s this everyday motivation and reward that we set out to provide through the trundl walking for charity app.
For, with trundl, there are no leaderboards or personal streaks to beat. Even if someone has mobility challenges or is in rehab, every walk taken with the app adds up towards donations. But it also means that runners who love their competition, can still put their commutes or dog-walks to good use without ruining a streak on another app!
Walking for UK charities is also a great incentive
With around 29million people donating at least once each year, there’s no question that the UK is a generous country. But, in a cashless world, street donations are still in decline and many UK charities are struggling.
Because trundl works with UK charities, they get involved in our fundraisers too. This means that members feel really motivated to step up and help them, simply by using trundl’s walking for charity app to log everyday dog-walks, commutes and school-runs.
This past year, trundl members have walked for 30,000 hours, covering 75,000kms and helped donate over £18,000 since launch.
And all without a competitive leaderboard in sight!
