2025: Looking back on a year of walking for charity with trundl

This has, unquestionably, been one of those ‘blink and you missed it’ years.

So, as it’s hard to believe that it’s winter already, we’re looking back to see what we achieved together.

trundl members went out walking for health and charity giving

While raising funds for UK charities is a vital motivator, trundl is fundamentally a walking and exercise app.  And in 2025, trundl members covered a lot of ground.  In the first 11 months of the year, 113, 564 kms of walks were recorded through the trundl app.

Although this is a great stat, more impressive and impactful is what this means in hours spent being active outdoors.  With the NHS increasingly using green prescribing to help people with poor mental and physical health, we’re thrilled that trundl members spent an average of 21 hours a month walking outdoors in or around nature. All because they felt motivated to be active in support of our UK charities.

As member Carole Tidball shared:

‘trundl provided the nudge I didn’t know I needed. My shorter walks stretched into new, longer routes. Tempted to drive to the local shops? I’d walk instead….. The lesson is simple: everyone needs a little extra motivation. By making every walk a contribution to health, charity, and the planet, trundl provides the perfect nudge’.

CO2 savings were transformed into environmental projects

Another popular feature on the trundl app is the CO2 Saver.  When members choose to walk rather than drive for short trips, the app records the estimated carbon savings. Then, each time the collective carbon savings mount up to 2,000 KG, a special environmental initiative is supported.

In 2025, for instance, trundl funded the 5th and 6th planting of a school orchard with The Tree Council.  Not only do these provide generations of children with hands-on experience of food production, they also create vital nature havens.

Another carbon-saving project was our 2nd Marine Recovery trundl for The Sussex Wildlife Trust. This special trundl creates the funding to collect, transport and then recycle a whole lorryload of discarded fishing nets.  Importantly, this prevents the nets from either being sent to clog up landfill or be discarded at sea.

To date, trundl members have saved over 15,000 kgs of carbon by choosing to walk rather than drive for some short trips.

Charity donations are growing

While each trundl creates funds in the £100’s, over time these are mounting up. In 2025 our all-time donations rose to over £30,000. Behind that number are a range of core and guest UK charities in mobility and environmental sectors. Members love helping such a variety of causes through their everyday walks, all without the need for personal fundraising.

All in all, it’s been a busy year of walking, charity giving and carbon saving.  Huge thanks and lots of love to our individual and company members, charity and brand partners.  Here’s to another active and generous year in 2026.
